Car Safety for Your Baby

When it is time to start traveling by car with your baby and you´re out looking for a car seat, there are some things you need to think about. Think about safety above all, both in and outside of the car. Remember that babies and children are soft and the car is hard. So baby car safety is of the utmost importance.

The most safe and best way for a child to ride in the car is to sit facing backwards and fastened in a car seat that is approved by the Road Safety Office. There is a special kind of car seat for babies between newborn and 9 months old for the best possible baby car safety.

When your baby is older, you can use a regular car seat. This should be mounted so that it is rear-facing and you can keep an eye on your child. This is the best baby care safety until your child is around 4 years old.

As your child grows, you can use the same car seat but changing so it’s facing forward. Make sure to still keep it in the front seat.

While baby car safety is the most important thing, the car seat should also be comfortable for your child. This applies both for long and short trips. Children also like to be able to look out of the window.

To keep the baby car safety high, disable the airbag for the passenger seat. If the airbag should go off – either by itself of in an accident – your child might be injured. When buying a car seat for your baby or child, make sure that it has passed a safety test and is marked with a security marking. Also be sure to read the instructions before usage. One of the most important things is that the car seat is fitted for your baby.

Car sickness is not that unusual. The symptoms for car sickness are fatigue and nausea, as well as dizziness and sometimes even vomiting. There are different ways to prevent your baby from being car sick.

It can help to sit in the front and to be able to look out the window. If this isn’t possible, try to make your baby fall asleep before getting into the car. Sometimes it also helps to open the window. If none of these should work, when your baby is a little older there are different types of food to eat that can help with car sickness. Food with ginger or peppermint in is good for car sickness.
